The original shirt was not a turtle neck as many have mistaken over the years. It featured a split in the front which was mostly hidden by the robes and a stand-up collar with a hook and eye closure. This same fabric was used as the inner robe for the costume worn by Frank Oz’s puppet character in the fifth and sixth films.
